I have been doing portraits of friends ( and their friends...)for a while now, and I find that by having a bit of fun the children especially, relax and allow me to get some natural shots. Pictures don't have to be taken in the studio, some children prefer to be in their natural surroundings or doing something they enjoy, playing in the park for example.
In my experience of taking portraits, I have found that the tips below will help ensure you get the most out of your session.
- If you specifically would like white background photography, please don't bring white clothes as they tend to merge with the background, I do use a black background to though.
- I have noticed that heavy patterns and stripes can take the focus away from the person wearing the clothes, logos may date some pictures too.
- Solid colours therefore are the better choice, if you are in a group then wear colours that compliment each other.
- But of course it is important to wear clothes that you are comfortable in. Also feel free to bring a change of clothes, this will help maximise the use you can get from your photo shoot especially if you buy the disk.
- If you have any favourite toys or music to help you or your family have fun then please bring them along.
After your photo session.
- Please allow up to 2 weeks for your pictures to be processed , this includes adding some effects on selected photos i.e. black and white, selective colour, vibrant colour, selective focus etc. I will advise you at your session when you can expect the images to be uploaded to the Client Area, which can be password protected if you would prefer.
- After you have viewed your photos feel free to contact me to ask for some futher processing (within reason) on selected photos for free.
- Once you are happy with your pictures I will either burn them all to a disk if you have chosen that option, or you can order your prints from me.
- Please note unless you specifically request otherwise, I may use some of the images for promotional purposes, i.e. portfolio, website etc.
Buying the disk
- The images are supplied as high quality JPEG files on a Light Scribe disk, which is a disk with an image embeded into the disk.
- Usually at least 80 images.
- You can then get your images printed wherever you like, or send them to people via email or set them as Wallpapers for your computer etc.
- Please note that I retain copyright, but you are free to get them printed. However you may not duplicate the disk.
- Some shops ask for a letter from the photographer, to prove you have permission to print the images, I am happy to provide you with one. Although I state that you have permission on your disk.
